Europe's attack on the Great Wall of China

The EU's economic policy agenda for China

The EU and China have been negotiating a new partnership and cooperation agreement since 2007. The starting point is China's dynamic economic growth. The EU sees this as both an opportunity and a major threat. The EU's main aim with the agreement is to increase its competitiveness. China also has a great interest in concluding the negotiations. The brochure sheds light on the complicated web of interests in trade relations between the EU and China. Historical and current patterns of action are analyzed and placed in an overall context. It also looks at China's social, ecological and development policy situation and outlines the negative effects of a further wave of liberalization as a result of the agreement.
