(B)All Around The World - Can We Fair It? Rules of the game for the sporting goods industry
Background information on the production of sports balls and presentation of fair alternatives as well as the campaign "Berliner Sport - Rund um Fair!
Team sports, especially soccer, inspire the masses, which is not only evident at major global tournaments, but also at local sporting events. The often voluntary commitment is enormous and social values are very important: Fairness plays a crucial role on the pitch. But what does it actually look like off the pitch? The way in which balls and sporting goods are produced is not the focus of attention and has hardly played a role for athletes to date. The conditions at the production sites for balls, sports clothing and equipment in the 21st century are inhumane and hazardous to health. Although a lot has happened in the clothing sector in recent years, the sports industry seems to have remained untouched.
The aim of this brochure is to provide an insight into the background to the production of sporting goods and to highlight options for making sport even fairer.
