Natural stones from responsible supply chains
Study on natural stone procurement in Berlin, Baden Württemberg and Germany and on the procurement of gravestones
This study was prepared on the occasion of the specialist conference "Natural stone from responsible supply chains" taking place in Stuttgart in September 2020. It deals on the one hand with the application of sustainability criteria in the awarding of public contracts in connection with natural stone at federal level and in Baden-Württemberg and Berlin (sub-studies B to D), and on the other hand with the application of social standards for natural stone gravestones in selected federal states (sub-study E). In both areas, the legal framework and its handling are presented, the latter on the basis of interviews and e-mail correspondence with administrative bodies, professional associations and other stakeholders.
The study is intended to provide an insight into the consideration of social and ecological aspects, but does not claim to cover these completely and in detail. The aim is to identify starting points that can be used to promote responsible supply chains for natural stone products.
